The management of Real Madrid has taken a decisive escalatory step towards the controversial arbitration file, as the club issued an official statement in reaction to UEFA’s confirmation of receipt of the complaint file and the supporting papers submitted by it regarding the case known as negreira.
The Real Madrid club pointed out that the investigatory bodies within UEFA now officially have the documents submitted by it, in conjunction with the ongoing investigations of the continental federation about the funds paid by FC Barcelona for two decades to the former vice-president of the referees committee Jose Maria Enriquez negreira.
The Real Madrid Administration confirmed that the complaint contains proofs and files reflecting extremely serious and complex facts, stressing that such suspicions strike the essence of sports competition and undermine public confidence in the entire arbitration system, and the text of the statement stated a clear and explicit request from Real Madrid to UEFA to speed up the procedures and bring the investigations to an end without any delay, so that the competent bodies can impose penalties and take decisions that are fully commensurate with the scale of confirmed violations.
The statement also stressed the club’s commitment to continue coordination and full cooperation with EU officials, and to take all possible paths to uncover the full facts, stressing that what happened completely contradicts the standards of integrity, fair play and transparency on which football was based in the Old Continent.
