Arsenal snatched a precious and hard-fought victory outside its bases against its host Nottingham Forest with a goal without reply, in the strong confrontation that brought together the two parties at the City Ground, within the competitions of the seventh round of the English Premier League for the 2026/27 season.
Arsenal struggled to break the tight defensive bloc of the owners, as the team imposed its field control throughout the first half and took possession of the ball significantly, but that dominance lacked offensive effectiveness and the last touch in front of the goal, to end the first half of the meeting with a negative draw amid great defensive steadfastness from Nottingham.
In the second half, Arsenal continued their relentless pressure in search of a gap that would lead them towards the net amid constant defensive despotism from the owners of the ground. The eightieth minute carried the decisive word for the London team, when substitute Noni Madueke managed to break the deadlock and score the precious victory goal, taking advantage of a decisive and masterful pass from his teammate Declan Rice, to translate his team’s advantage and give him the full points.
With this victory, Arsenal raised its score to 18 points to strengthen its presence at the top of the table and continue to tighten the noose on the leaders Manchester City in the burning top struggle, while Nottingham Forest’s situation worsened after freezing its balance at five points to remain languishing in eighteenth place.
