Saudi club Al-Nasr is facing a complex administrative challenge regarding the future of its Portuguese star “Joao Felix”, as the strict measures imposed by the Financial Supervisory Commission continue to hinder the administration’s efforts to resolve the file of extending his contract, despite a mutual desire to keep his services within the ranks of the international.
The regulatory authorities require the club to provide bank guarantees and documents proving its full ability to cover salaries and material obligations arising from the activation of the extension clause, and although the club’s management has the legal right to renew the contract according to its current terms, but the file is still pending final financial approval since it was submitted to the concerned authorities over the past weeks.
This disruption puts Al-Nasr officials in front of two paths; either fulfilling the regulatory requirements quickly and approving the new contract, or moving towards the option of selling in the next winter transfer window to benefit financially from the value of the player before he enters the free period that allows him to leave for free.
These developments coincide with a keen follow-up from European clubs closely monitoring Felix’s situation, at a time when the player had previously expressed his aspiration to compete again in the Champions League, along with feeling good inside Riyadh, and this crisis is not considered an emergency victory, as it repeats the scenario of scrutiny and rejection of previous renewal files for a number of the club’s players, where financial control imposes tight restrictions to ensure financial balance even with the club’s financial competence certificate, so the coming days remain decisive in determining the fate of the Portuguese striker between staying in the Rushen League or returning to the Old Continent.
