There is a state of tension and anticipation within the Zamalek club and among its fans, after reports circulated indicating the possibility of dispensing with the services of the international left-back “Ahmed Fattouh” in favor of the Libyan club Ahly Beni Ghazi during the coming period.
Despite the validity of the suspension that prevents Zamalek from registering new deals until the winter transfer period, the leaks of negotiations have sparked a storm of controversy, especially with the approach of the end of the player’s contract by next summer, which makes his future firmly on the table for discussion.
Samir Salah, the player’s agent, explained a major surprise after revealing the details of the offers submitted by the Libyan side, where he stated on television: “the initial offer included paying 500 thousand dollars to join the player permanently, but Zamalek asked to increase the fee to 700 thousand dollars, and upon the approval of the Libyan club Zamalek returned and raised his demands for one million dollars, and the other party agreed again, and they are waiting for an official response today, Wednesday, and there is another proposal that includes lending the player for two years for five hundred thousand dollars, provided that this is preceded by extending his contract with Zamalek first.
On the other hand, Ahmad Suleiman, a member of the board of Directors of Zamalek club, completely denied these news, as he said: “there are no negotiations to sell the player, and I demand the agent to announce the name of the official who is negotiating with the Libyan club inside Zamalek clearly and openly,” this frank contradiction did not calm the fans of the team, but deepened their fears given previous similar experiences, most notably the sale of Brazilian Juan Alvina Bezerra to Shabab Ahli Dubai Emirates club shortly after the issuance of an official statement denying the intention to waste it.
The White fans fear a repeat of the bleeding of the main pillars, especially after the departure of prominent elements such as Nabil Dunga, Nasser Maher and Hossam Abdel Meguid, at a time when the team lacks any ready-made alternatives due to the disciplinary transfer ban, besides, Zamalek supporters are haunted by other fears, namely the possibility of using the Libyan league as a preparatory station for the subsequent transition of Fattouh to the traditional rival Al-Ahly, which in turn suffers from a clear technical crisis in the left-back position and seeks to strengthen it strongly for a long time.
On the other hand, a limited number of fans believe that financially benefiting from the sale of Fattouh may be a practical option, driven by his volatile medical record; as the player is rarely able to maintain a continuous participation rate exceeding six or seven matches without suffering an injury forcing him to be absent, and these developments come in conjunction with a recent injury suffered by the player with a strong groin contusion with Egypt during the confrontation with South Sudan in the African Nations qualifiers.
