تنتظر جماهير الكرة الخليجية مواجهة من العيار الثقيل، حيث شدد مهاجم المنتخب السعودي “عبد الله آل سالم” على أن لقاء قطر المقبل في المربع الذهبي لبطولة كأس الخليج العربي يحمل طابع خاص يختلف تماما عما قدمه الأخضر خلال منافسات الدور الأول، مؤكدا أن عين الفريق موجهة بالكامل نحو حصد اللقب والوصول للمشهد الختامي.

وجاء وصول منتخب السعودية إلى الدور قبل النهائي من خليجي 27 بعد مسيرة لافتة حصد خلالها العلامة الكاملة؛ إذ استهل مشواره بانتصار بهدف نظيف أمام الكويت، ثم تفوق بثلاثية دون رد على عمان عبر ثنائية “فراس البريكان” وهدف “حسن كادش”، قبل أن يحسم صدارة المجموعة بانتصار صريح على العراق بهدفين نظيفين سجلهما آل سالم وعبد الله الحمدان.

وفي حديثه لوسائل الإعلام خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص باللقاء، قال آل سالم: “مواجهة الغد مختلفة عن المواجهات السابقة لأنها في نصف النهائي، وسنواجه فريقًا صاحب خبرات كبيرة حقق كأس أمم آسيا سابقًا، وكذلك نحن فريق قوي ومميز ونتطلع لبلوغ الدور النهائي”.

كما تحدث المهاجم المخضرم عن تكاتف المجموعة وأهمية العمل الجماعي داخل صفوف المنتخب، مشيرا: “الجميع يساهم بتسجيل الأهداف، وأنا توجت عمل الفريق بتسجيل الهدف الأول أمام العراق، ولدينا أفضل اللاعبين وهذا أمر جيد للمدرب، سواء شاركت بصفة أساسية أو بالاحتياط، الهدف واحد تمثيل المنتخب بأفضل طريقة وتحقيق البطولة”.

وحول توقيت هدفه الدولي الأول بعد تجاوزه سن الثالثة والثلاثين، استرجع آل سالم الصعوبات والتقلبات التي واجهها على مدار مشواره الكروي، موضحا: “أول هدف دولي لي بعمر الـ33 سنة قد يكون بسبب الصعوبات والتقلبات التي واجهتها في مسيرتي، كنت دائمًا أتطلع للعمل بجد واجتهاد داخل وخارج الملعب وما زلت قادرًا على مساعدة زملائي اللاعبين داخل الملعب وخارجه، والقادم أفضل”.

The veteran striker also spoke about the togetherness of the group and the importance of teamwork within the ranks of the national team, noting: “everyone contributes by scoring goals, and I crowned the work of the team by scoring the first goal against Iraq, and we have the best players, and this is good for the coach, whether I participate mainly or in reserve, the goal is to represent the team in the best way and achieve the championship.

Regarding the timing of his first international goal after passing the age of thirty-three, Al Salem recalled the difficulties and fluctuations he faced throughout his football career, explaining: “my first international goal at the age of 33 may be due to the difficulties and fluctuations I faced in my career, I was always looking forward to working hard and hard inside and outside the stadium and I am still able to help my fellow players inside and outside the stadium, and the next one is better”.
