The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah continued his continental glow with the Turkish Trabzonspor, and led him to achieve a precious and deserved victory at the expense of his Scottish guest hearts with two goals for nothing, in the confrontation that brought the two parties together on Thursday evening in the second round of the European Conference League competitions.
Salah entered the meeting with the captaincy in the absence of the injured defender Stefan Savic, and he was on time for the opening of the scoring in the 31st minute after he jumped to execute a penalty kick calculated for his colleague Diego francolino, capturing the net with great skill through a quiet “paninka” shot in the middle of the goal.
The attacking partnership between Salah and francolino continued to make the difference, as Trabzon consolidated its lead with the second goal in the 57th minute following a distinctive football exchange that the Egyptian star ended with a silky pass towards the Guinean striker, who accurately placed the ball inside the net.
Twenty minutes before the end of the confrontation, German coach Thomas Ries preferred to rest his Egyptian captain and pushed substitute ouzan Toufan to secure the midfield. Despite the control and victory, the ranks of the Turkish team received a blow in the last breaths after its defender Lopez Cabral received a red card in the fifth minute of stoppage time after receiving the second warning, to confirm his official absence from the next summit against Freiburg, Germany.
With this victory, Trabzonspor raised its score to a full 6 points to advance to the fourth place in the league stage standings table, while the balance of the Scottish team settled at an orphan point that put it in the twenty-fourth ranking.
