The referees committee of the Egyptian Football Federation is racing against time to finish the file of the foreign arbitration staff nominated to manage the summit meeting between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, which will be on Sunday evening, October 11 at the “Cairo International Stadium” for the 6th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The main hitch is that the date coincides with a new round of the Champions League competition on the 11th and 13th of the same month, which prompted football associations on the Old Continent to apologize for meeting the Egyptian demand, while limiting the options available to the second-level referees to compensate for the mandatory absence of elite cadres busy with continental duties.
The mountain officials had moved through communication channels with football federations, such as England, Germany, Italy and Portugal, after excluding the trend to arbitration schools in France and Spain, in response to the desire of the Ahli Management, which officially demanded foreign referees for the Zamalek and pyramids sites, and the committee set on October 4 as a deadline to officially resolve the identity of the crew to give him a full week to study the plans of the parties and the atmosphere of competition.
Zamalek enters the meeting as runner-up with 13 points and a goal difference that puts it second after winning in 4 rounds and drawing in one, surpassing the third-place Al-Ahly with the same balance, while pyramids continues to sit at the top of the ranking table with 15 points, followed by Ceramica Cleopatra fourth with 12 points.
