Morocco’s stadiums have returned to the forefront of the football scene on the black continent, as the kingdom is preparing to host 3 decisive confrontations during the coming November, as part of the qualifying race for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals, and these meetings witness the presence of 6 teams seeking to establish their feet on the continent, namely the Democratic Congo, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Madagascar, in addition to Guinea Bissau.
This football series opens on Thursday, November 12, with a face-off between the national teams of Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, and the starting whistle goes off at four o’clock in the afternoon Morocco time (6:00 PM Saudi time), and on Tuesday, November 17, there are two high-caliber confrontations; the first in which the Sierra Leone National Team meets its democratic Congolese counterpart on the floor of the “Abdi” Stadium in New City at four o’clock in the afternoon Morocco (6:00 PM Saudi).
This will be followed in the evening by an upcoming Arab-African summit between Mauritania and Burkina Faso at seven o’clock in the evening Moroccan time (9:00 PM Saudi time), and while the matter of hosting al Jadida Stadium for the first match has been resolved, arrangements are still underway to announce the two stadiums that will host the other two meetings as soon as their final details are settled.
The choice of Moroccan territories to host these matches is due to the strong sports partnerships within the continent, in addition to Morocco’s possession of modern facilities fully accredited by the International and African federations, and advanced logistical capabilities in television transmission and mass organization, this comes to support football federations whose teams are playing qualifiers outside their homes because their national stadiums are not ready for strict international standards.
