The recent decision of the international football federation (FIFA) on the dues of the Swiss “Harald gamberli”, the former assistant coach in the coaching staff of “Marcel Kohler”, raised wide questions among the fans of the Red Castle about the extent to which the club could be subject to a suspension penalty.
The sports regulations expert “Amer al-Omaira” resolved this controversy, stressing that the legal position of Al-Ahli does not impose any immediate punishment by suspending the registration at the moment, due to the legal department’s move to appeal the verdict, and explained in his statements: “any decision issued by FIFA regarding non-payment of dues to a player or a member of the coaching staff, the club is suspended for 3 periods of it is decided by the sports court”.
The details of the crisis date back to April 2025, when the Ahli administration decided to remove gambrelli from his technical duties with a salary that month, while his contract was extended until the end of June 2026 with a net annual salary of (390 thousand euros), and with the failure of attempts to terminate the contract by mutual consent between the parties, the Swiss coach filed an official complaint to the Fifa Players ‘ Status room, demanding his financial dues based on a contractual clause that guarantees him continued receiving his salary even if the administration decides to remove him from field work.
The dispute resolution chamber ruled to accept the lawsuit in part after it found that the contract remained legally valid and was not officially terminated, as it was calculated for the coach 11 months late starting from May 2025 to March 2026, and the decision obliged the Al-Ahly club to pay (357,500 euros), in addition to 5% annual interest, while giving the club a legal deadline of 21 days to appeal to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which the club has already taken to suspend implementation until the final verdict.
