وبحسب ما أوردته صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية، فإن جارسيا لم يتمكن من استكمال اللقاء بعد شعوره بآلام حادة ومفاجئة في العضلة الرباعية للفخذ الأيمن، مما اضطره للسقوط على أرضية الميدان وطلب التدخل الطبي فوراً، وسط نظرات مشوبة بالحذر والارتباك من المدرب الألماني هانز فليك على خط التماس.

وخرج اللاعب الإسباني من الملعب وعلامات الإحباط واضحة على وجهه عقب تلقيه الإسعافات الأولية من طبيب النادي لوكاس جوميز، قبل أن يدخل في حديث مقتضب مع ماركوس سورج، المدرب المساعد، لشرح طبيعة الانزعاج العضلي الذي داهمه.

وتأتي هذه الانتكاسة في توقيت حساس للخط الخلفي في الفريق الكتالوني، خصوصاً أن جارسيا كان قد تجاوز مؤخراً إصابة في الأنف ألزمته استخدام قناع واقي للوجه دون أن تبعده عن المنافسات المحلية، في حين غاب عن مستهل مشوار الفريق القاري أمام فاينورد الهولندي بداعي الإيقاف الانضباطي.
