Zamalek club officially qualified for the group stage of the African Champions League, after beating the host Rwandan army with a goal without reply, in the confrontation that brought them together this evening at the Cairo International Stadium in the second round of 32.
The White Knight entered the meeting with a clear attacking desire to resolve things early, which was already achieved when striker Ahmed Sharif surprised the Rwandan defense with a snap goal with the start whistle in the first minute, to give the owners an early advantage that confused the opponent’s calculations.
The rest of the match did not witness any adjustment to the level of the score, in light of mutual attempts and defensive insurance, Zamalek kept a clean net until the final whistle, repeating its superiority recorded in the meeting away from home thanks to Nasser Mansi’s late goal.
Thus, Zamalek crosses the obstacle of its Rwandan rival with a clear superiority in the aggregate of the two home and away encounters with the result of two clean goals, to officially announce its presence among the continent’s leaders in the group stage, while the Rwandan team bid farewell to the continental competitions early.
