The Moroccan national team continued to write football history after it managed to establish its feet in fifth place globally in the live ranking table issued by FIFA, taking advantage of overcoming the obstacle of the Lesotho national team with two clean sheets to calculate the second round of qualifying to the finals of the 2027 Africa Cup of nations.
The Atlas Lions had snatched this advanced rank before the meeting after they removed the Brazilian national team from its position by a slight point difference, as Morocco scored (1808.18) points against (1805.91) points for samba dancers, and the Brazilian team did not intercede for its superiority in the friendly confrontation against Australia to regain its position, in light of the consecutive positive results of the Moroccan Battalion.
This achievement is a natural result of the remarkable levels provided by Hakimi’s comrades at the 2026 World Cup finals by reaching the quarter-finals, a path that gave them the sixth place globally in the official July ranking, before the recent balanced performance pushed them to break into the list of the top five teams in the world, and thus Morocco continues to tighten its grip on the leadership of the African and Arab teams, confirming its steady presence among the Giants of the game on the world stage.
