Manchester City received a strong shock after confirming the absence of their player Antoine Semenya from the stadiums for up to two months, which threatens his presence in the upcoming European signing against Barcelona.
At the press conference for the AEK Athens match in the Champions League, Italian coach Enzo Maresca eased the burden of the news, noting that the results of recent medical tests were relatively reassuring compared to the first fears of the medical apparatus, as it turned out that the injury is localized in the lateral ligaments and not a muscle tear, giving the team a clear vision of the course of treatment and recovery expected to be completed in December.
“At first, we expected the injury to be more serious, but after the tests yesterday, we became more relieved, because the injury is not as big as we expected, he will be out for eight weeks, the most important thing now is to focus on the recovery process, when he returns in December, he will be a new player,”said Maresca.
The Manchester City manager added: “Haaland may be available, we’ll see what happens . We have a training class now, and there are still some doubts, but he was in pretty good shape yesterday, and he got better. As for the rest of the players, their conditions are fairly good, and the only player who will probably be absent for eight weeks is Antoine Semenyo,”he said.
The manager stressed the need to quickly restore balance in the continental competition after the recent stumble, and continued, “It’s a big match tomorrow, a match in the Champions League, we lost the last match, so we need to win the matches, we will try to achieve victory relying on the best players available to us at the moment.
