The Saudi national team snatched a huge financial reward of (one million US dollars) after its well-deserved coronation with the title of the Arabian Gulf Cup in its 27th edition, in addition to lifting the precious Cup and obtaining 60 gold medals dedicated to the champion.
This great achievement came after Al-Akhdar’s outright superiority in the final position over his Emirati brother with a clean double, on a crowd night embraced by the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, to win the UAE runner-up team with half a million dollars and sixty silver medals.
This historic Coronation carries a special taste for Saudi football, as it broke a knot that lasted for about 23 years away from the Gulf gold platforms, to recall the memories of the titles of 1994, 2002 and 2003, raising its yield to four Gulf cups that placed it directly in the line of the historical Golden Record of the championship, equal with Iraq, and behind Kuwait leading with ten titles.
The coronation was not a coincidence, but came as the culmination of an exceptional technical career outlined by the Greek coach Georgios Donis; the Falcons extended their complete dominance over the championship competitions by achieving the full mark with 5 consecutive victories, during which the attack scored eight goals, while the defense and the goalkeeper kept the net clean without conceding any goal throughout the journey, to combine financial and technical glory with a rare defensive number.
