The English league is living one of its most dangerous historical moments, amid overwhelming concern sweeping the corridors of the competition that the Manchester City file will end with inconclusive decisions, which puts the credibility and integrity of the Championship at stake, and directly threatens huge television broadcasting contracts that generate billions of pounds sterling.
This confusion came after an independent investigation committee found the English champion guilty of 114 violations out of 115 charges against him, covering the period from the 2009/2010 season to the 2017/2018 season, according to the competition Association, the violations touch the core of financial regulations, in addition to obstructing the course of investigations and not cooperating with the responsible authorities as required.
The data revealed that the club used fake sponsorship solutions and contracts that contributed to raising the book financial figures and reducing costs by more than (900 million pounds sterling), which made the club appear committed to the rules of financial integrity while the digital reality was going on a completely different path.
The punitive options provided for in the championship regulations vary from imposing heavy fines, or deducting a package of points, and it may reach severe sports sanctions, including recommending the team be permanently excluded from the English league, and until this moment, there is no final ruling, as the club has the right to appeal and appeal before entering into penalty pricing sessions and determining its size.
The real reason comes in the issuance of a lenient sentence, a scenario that could undermine the confidence of the fans and the administrations of rival clubs in the ability of the association to protect the integrity of the competition and impose equal rules on everyone. Perhaps the statement of one prominent sports leader that” there are 5 billion reasons behind the verdict ” clearly reflects the overlap of big business interests with the disciplinary aspect.
The answer to the most difficult question is related to the sports scene in England: will the expected punishment correspond to the presence of 114 convictions, or will the language of money and market calculations impose its word in the largest legal battle known in the history of English football.
