The crisis of the position of sports director has been at the forefront of the scene within Zamalek club since the start of the current season, specifically following the departure of “John Edward”, who resigned as a result of the lack of consensus in visions with the club’s Board of directors, and since that moment the management has been racing against time to settle on the most appropriate name to manage the football file and arrange the White House from within.
The official spokesman of Zamalek club “Maher Gharib” resolved the controversy raised about this file, and confirmed that “Hossam al-Zanati” is the closest candidate to take over the job of sports director, but he explained that there is no set date yet to announce the decision officially, and spread over the past days many speculations that linked the delay of the official announcement with the wait for the administration to end some football confrontations, along with other rumors it is not related to any technical events inside the stadium at all.
As for the rumors related to the existence of crises in the contract clauses that caused the deal to be disrupted, the spokesman denied this completely, stressing that there is a comprehensive agreement reached almost two months ago in all respects, and explained that the goal of concluding an official contract is to preserve the rights of Zamalek club and the rights of Hussam al-Zanati clearly, so that things are clear, Frank and professionally managed.
The club’s management faced many questions from fans and followers about the actual benefit of creating or occupying this position at the current time, especially with the club suffering from suspension of registration and declining financial liquidity, and to answer these questions, the spokesman stressed that the presence of a sports director is a strategic decision taken by the board of directors since last season, an experience that must continue institutionally regardless of any circumstances.
The statements concluded by clarifying the management philosophy in adhering to this administrative system, where he added that Zamalek management believes that this is the right and correct approach to managing the football sector at the club, and he concluded that as soon as the former sports director resigned, the club immediately announced the arrival of a replacement to complete the experiment, which confirms that it is a long-term plan and is not related to people or temporary circumstances currently experienced by the management.
