Real Madrid snatched three precious points after a complex, breathtaking confrontation in front of their guest Villarreal, decided it with a clean goal on the floor of the “Santiago Bernabeu” within the activities of the eighth week of the Spanish league competitions.
The match began with intense Madrid pressure to break the defensive cluster, as Kylian Mbappe almost opened the scoring early with a powerful shot midway through the first half, before the talented Arda Gawler’s shot passed the right post just before the end of the first half, which ended with a clean net.
In the second half, the meeting turned into an open debate, as Thibaut Courtois saved his goal from two chances for the guests, only for the owners to respond in the sixty-third minute when Diomande picked up an elaborate cross and settled it in the net, causing great joy in the stands.
The excitement came in the 71st minute when Vinicius Jr. scored a second goal that did not last long to celebrate, as the video technology room intervened to cancel the goal, before the referee returned to show the direct red card in the face of the Brazilian star amid overwhelming objections, leaving his team to complete the meeting with ten players.
Villarreal intensified their attacks, taking advantage of the numerical increase and was close to equalizing through a dangerous ball to moliro, which Courtois brilliantly deflected into a corner. In contrast, Mbappe missed the opportunity to kill the match after a brilliant tackle on the Yellow Submarine keeper, and with this difficult victory, Real Madrid raised its score to 18 points in third place in the table, while Villarreal’s balance froze at 8 points to settle in tenth place.
