The corridors of FIFA are in a state of unprecedented boiling, in light of intensive movements led by an opposition front seeking to break the monopoly of Swiss Gianni Infantino to head the largest sports institution in the world, and attention is currently turning towards the Legend of French coaching Arsene Wenger to be the official face of this movement, after the parties opposing the current president settled on him as a figure capable of reuniting and changing the balance of power.
According to the British newspaper “Sunday Times” in an extensive report, these moves accelerated significantly after the exit of the president of the CONCACAF federation, Victor montaliani, from the candidacy calculations, which forced the opposition to look for an alternative with an indisputable international weight. These parties, headed by influential circles within Uefa, did not hesitate to direct their compass towards the historical Arsenal coach, betting on his integrity and legal status to re-correct the trajectory of the football system, which is suffering from escalating divisions due to the pressure of the calendar and the expansion of tournaments for purely commercial purposes.
Currently, Wenger is the head of FIFA’s global football development department, which gives him an in-depth understanding of the ins and outs of international management and the relations of continental federations. However, this initiative faces a difficult battle with time, as FIFA regulations require the closure of the official candidacy by the eighteenth of next November, with the requirement that any competitor receive the recommendation of at least five national federations out of two hundred and eleven members, in preparation for the General Assembly elections scheduled to be held in the Moroccan capital Rabat on the eighteenth of March in the Year Two Thousand and twenty-seven.
Until this moment, the French coach still remains silent without showing a decisive position, leaving the door open to wide speculation about whether he is ready for a complex managerial confrontation against the head of the institution in which he works, or would he prefer to stay in his development position away from direct clashes.
